Composer Murad Kazhlaev, who wrote the music for the anthem of Dagestan and the ballet “Mountain Woman”, has died
People’s Artist of the USSR and Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, composer Murad Kazhlaev died in Dagestan at the age of 92, said the Minister of Culture of the Republic Zarema Butaeva.
Kazhlaev was one of the founders of the Dagestan school of composition. He is the author of the music for the anthem of Dagestan and for the first national ballet “Mountain Woman” based on the poem by Rasul Gamzatov.
The farewell ceremony and funeral of the composer will take place on December 24 at 12:00 at the cemetery in Makhachkala.
