Composer Eduard Artemiev, who wrote the music for Courier and Solaris, has died

Eduard Artemyev, composer of film scores, has died at the age of 85, according to media reports citing the composer’s relatives. He had previously been hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
Artemiev, among other things, wrote the music for the films Solaris, The Mirror and Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky, The Barber of Siberia, Burnt by the Sun and Home Among Strangers, Stranger Among Ours by Nikita Mikhalkov, The Courier by Karen Shakhnazarov and “Inner Circle” by Andrei Konchalovsky. His music has been featured in over 150 feature films.
The composer became the laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation four times. He was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree.
