The Stalin Center appeared in Barnaul. Its opening was reported in the branch of the Communists of Russia party in the Altai Territory. “Stalin Center” is located in the areas of the party public reception. It received its first visitors on December 16, on the eve of the 145th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Stalin. The exhibition is located in one of the rooms. Its main exhibit is a bust of Joseph Stalin, made, according to the center’s initiators, in the 1930s.
As the head of the regional department, deputy of the regional legislative assembly Sergei Matasov said, the Stalin Center should receive the status of a “cultural and historical center.” It should become a platform “for discussion, for preserving our history.”
“Stalin smashed external and internal enemies at once, powerfully and forever. But, unfortunately, after his death a huge amount of garbage was deposited on his grave, but the wind of history will dispel it, and we are already close to this,” said at the reception on the occasion of the opening of the Stalin Center Sergei Matasov.
General Secretary of the CPSU (b) Joseph Stalin visited Altai on a working trip in January 1928 to solve the problem of grain procurements. He demanded that grain be confiscated from the “kulaks,” which led to massive repressions against the peasantry.
