The commander of the Russian troops participating in the special military operation, Army General Sergei Surovikin, looks like a commander from the era of Emperor Peter the Great. This was stated in an interview with the Economist by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), General Valeriy Zaluzhny.
According to Zaluzhny, one look at General Surovikin is enough to understand: “either you complete the task, or …”. In this way, the general resembles the Petrine generals, Zaluzhny believes.
Recall that General Surovikin headed the grouping of the RF Armed Forces in the NVO zone on October 8, 2022. Prior to that, he commanded the grouping of troops “South”. The army general has the title of Hero of Russia for the courage and heroism shown during the fighting in Syria. Many experts believe that the arrival of Surovikin to the post of commander of the troops participating in the special operation led to more skillful actions of the RF Armed Forces and greater coherence.
