Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny admitted that the conflict in Ukraine has reached a dead end

The conflict in Ukraine has reached a dead end, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to achieve a breakthrough. About it stated Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny in an interview with The Economist magazine.

“As in the First World War, we have reached a level of technological development that baffles us. <…> There will most likely not be a deep and beautiful breakthrough,” he said.

According to Zaluzhny, in order to “break the deadlock,” a sharp technological leap in the military field is needed.

Previously The Sunday Times wrotethat disagreements arose between the commander in chief and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky regarding the completion of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. According to the publication, Zaluzhny believes that the offensive is nearing completion and that it is necessary to prepare for the operation next year. Zelensky is disappointed with the results of the counter-offensive and is of the opinion that it is impossible to stop for now, since the patience of the Western allies may soon come to an end.

Ukraine has been waging a counteroffensive since early June. The Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are unable to achieve their goals in any area. At the same time, the enemy army is suffering heavy losses. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu declaredthat since the beginning of the offensive, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost more than 90,000 people. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Ukrainian counteroffensive a failure.

At the same time, Moscow emphasized that it remains ready for negotiations with Ukraine. At the same time, this process is hampered by a decree signed by Zelensky in October 2022 on the refusal to negotiate with Russia while Putin is its president.
