Colonel Kalmykov: the Sarmat complex on duty is a weapon against the United States

The expert of the Bureau of Political Analysis, Colonel of the Reserve Pavel Kalmykov commented on the statement of the head of Roskosmos Yuri Borisov that the Sarmat missile system was put on combat duty.

It is known from open sources that this is a Russian silo-based strategic missile system with a heavy liquid-propellant intercontinental missile that is capable of delivering warheads along such trajectories and in such ways that it is significantly more difficult to destroy them. In particular, “Sarmat” is capable of striking through the South Pole of the Earth, bypassing the THAAD anti-missile system deployed by the United States.

“A missile can hit any point on the globe,” the expert noted in interview NSN. He added that if the Avangard hypersonic unit is still installed on the Sarmat, then no one will have the means to intercept the warhead.

Kalmykov also explained that it would be difficult to intercept the Sarmat without a hypersonic unit. He revealed that the complex has multiple warheads of 750 kilotons each.

“This is a lot, it can hit several American cities at once with one warhead,” the expert noted.

He drew attention to the fact that the complex was specially created to fight the United States, but if necessary, it could reach Australia.

“Its most important advantage is that it allows attacking from two directions – through the entire North and South Pole,” the expert explained, stressing that no state has such a complex.
