The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark announced the reduction of the staff of the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen to the level of the Danish Embassy in Moscow. About it says on the website of the department.

“The staff of the Russian embassy in Copenhagen should be reduced to the level of the Danish embassy in Moscow. Specifically, this means a ceiling of 5 diplomats and 20 administrative and technical employees of the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The department noted that Denmark and Russia are negotiating visas for employees of the Danish embassy in Moscow, but they did not lead to results due, according to the Foreign Ministry, Russia’s repeated attempts to include in these negotiations requests for visas for “Russian intelligence officers” . It is noted that the reduction should be completed no later than September 29.

Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin was informed about the decision of the authorities. The Russian Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the actions of Denmark.

In April 2022, the Danish government decided to expel 15 Russian diplomats, accusing them of espionage. Then the Russian Foreign Ministry promised retaliatory measures.
