How reports CNN, Collins Dictionary announced the word of the year, it was “AI” – an abbreviation for artificial intelligence.
As the publication clarifies, the essence of AI is the modeling of human mental functions using computer programs.
“AI is considered the next great technological revolution, has experienced rapid development and is much talked about in 2023,” the British dictionary publisher said in a statement.
Collins experts note that the possible future expertise of computers in “that most human of domains—language” is of some concern.
“This signals the beginning of debate, research and predictions, and more than enough justification for Collins’ 2023 Word of the Year: AI,” the publication writes.
