Colleges decide to hold a single open day

On Saturday, April 22, colleges and technical schools decided to hold a single open day. It will be held within the framework of the federal project “Professionality”. Tatevik Karabekyan, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in the Field of Secondary Vocational Education and Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education of Russia, told about this at a press conference dedicated to the release of the annual study “Applicant’s Navigator: Colleges of Russia 2023”.

According to the deputy head of the department, secondary vocational education is now in great demand among young people. For several years now, almost 60% of ninth grade graduates have entered secondary vocational schools, and 70% of vocational graduates have been employed immediately after graduation.

“The implementation of the federal project “Professionality”, which made it possible to reform the system of secondary vocational education, taking into account the effective interaction between the college and the enterprise, made the training program as practice-oriented as possible,” said Tatevik Karabekyan. – For those who plan to continue their education in colleges and technical schools this year, April 22 will be the Single Open Day.

Career centers that are open in each college participating in the Professionality project will organize and take part in the Open Days. Schoolchildren and their parents will be able to visit educational organizations who want to learn about the features of training under the “Professionality” program, priority areas of study for each region, see what equipment college students use and what enterprises they cooperate with. Students will also be able to visit laboratories and workshops, as well as take part in master classes and learn about the rules for admission to the college.

“These centers help the children to find out which enterprises they can get an internship or find a job in the future,” Tatevik Karabekyan said.

By the way, now similar career centers are being opened in educational organizations that have not yet been included in the Professionalism project.

As for the “Applicant Navigator: Russian Colleges 2023” study itself, this year it included almost 1,400 SVEs from 67 regions of Russia. The highest competition for budget-funded education was in the area of ​​”Informatics and Computer Engineering” – 28 people per place. Among the paying students, the highest competition was for the direction “Engineering and technology of construction” – 27 people per place. According to Natalya Tyurina, who represented the navigator, in 2021 the biggest competitions in colleges and technical schools were for creative specialties.

– Thus, we can say that the priorities of the guys are changing. And they are trying to go into the engineering profession, – said Natalia Tyurina. – Of course, the cost of the educational process plays an important role in choosing a college for children and their parents: creative specialties retain their leadership in terms of the cost of education. One of the most expensive areas of study was the direction of “Musical Art” in the Primorsky Territory – 320 thousand rubles. The cost of education in similar areas in the Sakhalin and Kaliningrad regions is also quite high. The average score of applicants entering colleges is also growing, in many areas it is approaching the “five”, in particular, in the areas of “jurisprudence”, “equipment and technology of budget transport”, “education and pedagogical sciences”, “computer science and computer technology”, service and tourism.
