The authorities of the Dagestan Kizilyurt announced the cancellation of celebrations scheduled for October 7 to mark the 60th anniversary of the city. As stated in a message on the official telegram channel of the mayor’s office, on this day they were going to “celebrate” the anniversary on a grand scale, but then decided to “postpone the date of celebration indefinitely.”
Earlier, Interfax reported on the detention of the mayor of Kizilyurt, Magomed Magomedov, as part of a criminal case of theft allegedly committed during his work as the Minister of Sports of Dagestan. Searches were reported in the Kizilyurt administration.
“For obvious reasons, there is no festive mood in the city,” the mayor’s office said on Wednesday, announcing the cancellation of the City Day celebrations.
