Chuvash stallion won the main Russian Winter Derby

One of the most important prizes for trotting horses is the V.O. Vitta or Winter Derby. It is played in winter at major hippodromes in our country at a distance of 1600 meters.

The main Russian Winter Derby for four-year-old horses, held at the Ramenskoye Hippodrome this year, was won by the Chuvash stallion Gregory RM (born from the stallion Raya Mirchi, Sweden). Under the control of master rider Vadim Kulygin, the stallion covered the distance in 2.01.1 seconds. We would like to remind you that Gregory RM became the most expensive horse sold in 2021 at the Chuvash Stud auction in its entire history.

And on February 16, rider from Cheboksary Nikolai Pyrkin and Pancake RM (descendant of the stallion Can Anyone Explain, USA) won the Winter Derby at the hippodrome in Kazan in a bitter struggle. Before this, Pancake RM underwent training at a stud farm in the city of Yadrino. Pancake RM was sold at the first online auction of the Chuvash stud farm.

Victory in the Winter Derby is an indicator of the high class of the horse and an indicator of the professionalism of the rider, because riding on a winter snowy track requires special skill and literacy.
