Church-based school: Metropolitan Tikhon offered to help the state with teachers

There is such a profession – teaching children. The profession is necessary, important, and, undoubtedly, very difficult and difficult. Not everyone can cope with this hard labor. But there is good news: teachers will soon feel better. The head of the Crimean Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church Tikhon (Shevkunov) offered the school help from the church. For starters, in teaching history.

“We do not impose ourselves, the church is separated from the state, and the school from the church,” said the Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea. “But we can help in matters of history, since we have many historians who deeply know the ancient history of Crimea, both medieval and modern “We can do our best to help schoolchildren visit and touch our shrines – both those of the Great Patriotic War and ancient monuments.”

Why, excuse me, did I immediately remember an episode from the immortal classic of Soviet animation – “The Secrets of the Third Planet”: “I, of course, am not asking for it… – Oh, Alice! You are asking for it!” However, it didn’t take long to ask for help, in the sense of offering “assistance”: the idea received an immediate positive response from the authorities.

“Without the clergy of all faiths, it will be difficult for us,” agreed the head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov. “You can be super-educated, super-smart, but not be imbued with your native faith and beliefs. How many smart people we had, but there were no those who supported the country “.

And how can we not recall another classic, this time a literary work: “I didn’t try to amaze with intelligence,” Father Keen answered with dignity. “The only thing I was striving for was to succeed in the public good. We don’t need smart people. We need faithful ones” (“Difficult to be God” by the Strugatsky brothers).

In a word, the process seems to have begun. In the version that the Metropolitan describes, cooperation between the church and the school looks completely innocent. Well, from time to time a historian in a cassock will come to school, he will tell children about the past of his native land and the Fatherland – delicately, subtly, without imposing church concepts – he will take the children on excursions to historical and holy places.

What’s bad about it? Absolutely nothing. But, as is known from the same history of the Fatherland, a sense of proportion, alas, has never been one of the virtues of the guiding and directing forces of our society. Here they like extremes much more than the middle. In the Fatherland it usually happens like this: “To the ground, and then…” And then, sooner or later, everything returns to normal. Sometimes in the form of a farce, but more often, unfortunately, in a tragic form.

By the way, then we will have to launch both the Muslim and Buddhist clergy – all traditional confessions are held in high esteem, everyone is equal. Will the “engineers of human souls” themselves be able to avoid falling into the temptation of rebuilding the school in their own way, according to the parochial model (madrassa, datsan)? Will there not be a conflict between the still secular nature of education and the, of course, good and eternal, but by no means secular, that “spiritual” teachers will begin to sow? Not a fact, not a fact, not a fact. Everything is possible in our dear Fatherland.

But even history can have problems. How, for example, will “spiritual” teachers interpret the history of the schism of the Russian Church, the history of the emergence and formation of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and the closely related history of numerous religious wars – both external and internal, civil wars, wars with “infidels” ” and “heretics”? How will they describe the history of the origin of man and humanity, which in its secular version is based on the Darwinian theory of evolution, and in the religious version – more precisely, religious ones – on completely different sources?

A detailed answer to these questions is, of course, impossible for now: His ways are inscrutable. But, perhaps, it would not be bold to assume that certain contradictions with current textbooks are inevitable here. In order to clearly imagine the nature and level of these disagreements, let us quote from the speech of the Supreme Mufti of Russia Talgat Tadzhuddin at last year’s World Russian People’s Council: “For more than 70 years they taught in schools that our children and we ourselves descended from monkeys, that we are monkeys… But we, thank God, are not monkeys. And we are not going to imitate anyone. This proves that our Fatherland is a holy land, holy Rus’.”
