Cholera has returned to another country

Dozens more cases of cholera have been diagnosed in Haiti, adding urgency to warnings that the Caribbean nation will descend into chaos amid political and economic crises.
Eight people have already died from the deadly infection, according to the Haitian Ministry of Health, and 68 new cases were identified in the first week of October, according to the medical humanitarian group Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
The “overwhelming majority” of cholera cases monitored by MSF are children, project coordinator Mocha Zemrag told CNN Sunday.
The emergence of a new public health emergency comes amid anti-government protests now in their seventh week. They have paralyzed the country, with schools, businesses and public transport across the country largely closed. Since August 22, Haitians have been demonstrating against chronic gang violence, as well as against poverty, food insecurity, inflation and fuel shortages.
Also, an outbreak of cholera is observed in Syria due to the use of dirty water for drinking.
