The authorities of the Chinese city of Shenzhen (Guangdong province), with a population of about 17 million people, have issued an order to transfer most of the commercial sector and civil servants to remote work due to the threat of the spread of COVID-19. This was reported on Sunday by Western media, Interfax reports.
In addition, restaurants and other public establishments will operate at only half capacity.
People arriving in Shenzhen will be banned from visiting public establishments, including cafes, restaurants, theaters and gyms, for the first three days.
Beijing has a “zero tolerance” policy for COVID-19. In order to limit the spread of the virus in China, lockdowns and mandatory quarantine for those who came into contact with infected people are being implemented.
At the same time, in early November, the PRC authorities announced some easing of measures.
But over the past few days, the country has been detecting a record number of infections every day for China. So, on Saturday, doctors diagnosed about 40 thousand new cases of coronavirus. In this regard, the authorities of a number of Chinese provinces have tightened measures to combat its spread.
It was also previously reported that protests of Chinese citizens against the lockdowns took place in Beijing and Shanghai on Sunday.
