China launches environmental monitoring satellite into orbit

China has successfully launched the Huanjing Jianzai-2-06 satellite from the Taiyuan Space Center in northern China. The device will be used for warnings about natural disasters and the implementation of environmental projects. The data from Huanjing Jianzai-2-06 will also be used for the development of forestry and agriculture, in the assessment of land and water resources. The spacecraft was launched into orbit by a CZ-2C rocket at 06:53 Beijing time (01:53 Moscow time). The CZ-2C is a two-stage liquid-fuel rocket with a fairing diameter of 3.35 m. It reaches 42 m in length and is capable of launching up to 2.85 tons of payload into low Earth orbit.
