China has become the first country to green-light an inhaled Covid-19 vaccine, paving the way for the potential use of a needle-free product in a country where suppressing the spread of Covid-19 remains a top priority.
The vaccine manufacturer, CanSino Biologics, said on Sunday that China’s drug regulator has approved an inhaled dose for emergency use as a booster vaccine, CNN reported.
The product, known as Convidecia Air, delivers a vaccine dose through a stream of air from a nebulizer, which is then inhaled through the mouth. The CanSino Convidecia Covid-19 vaccine is already in use in China and approved in several other countries.
