Children of employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) who take part in the military operation in Ukraine will be able to enter Russian universities under a special quota, follows from decree President Vladimir Putin. Changes were made to the May presidential decree on a “special quota” to support the families of citizens who “took and are taking” part in the military operation.
Previously, children of military personnel, employees of state bodies or executive authorities, as well as internal affairs bodies who participated in a military operation, could count on special conditions. Now this list includes the children of employees of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation who perform or performed the tasks assigned to them during the military operation.
Universities should allocate a special quota for children from the above list – 10% of the total number of budget places.
Today’s decree of the President of the Russian Federation comes into force from the date of signing.
At the end of July, the Ministry of Education and Science told Kommersant that in 2022 almost 426 thousand places were allocated for universities for undergraduate and specialist programs, and 43.5 thousand places (10%) were reserved within the framework of a special quota.
