In the village Antropovo, where General Mikhail Malinin was born, the 28th chess competitions ended.
The tournament brought together 70 participants from ten districts. Deputy head of the region Alexey Afanasyev noted that this event has been held for thirty years.
“We honor the memory of our great fellow countryman, who made a significant contribution to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the development of the state and our region,” he said.
Governor Sergei Sitnikov was at the origins of the now traditional tournament. A special feature of this year was the participation of students from patriotic clubs. The event is supported by the general’s granddaughters. This time the schoolchildren watched a film about the Battle of Kursk. Young Army members from Moscow were especially happy to come to Malinin’s homeland.
