Residents of Chelyabinsk complain of smog and a strong smell of burning. The city was covered with smoke from fires in the Sverdlovsk region.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Chelyabinsk Region clarified that there were no specific fires in the city. The cause of the smog was fires in the Sverdlovsk region and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, which were brought to the city by the north wind.
Press Service of the Ministry of Ecology of the Chelyabinsk Region reportedthat one-time excesses of the maximum permissible concentrations for formaldehyde were recorded in the city, which is typical for forest fires.
Citizens were advised not to open windows and not ventilate the premises, to reduce the time spent on the street to a minimum, drink more water and carry out wet cleaning of the premises.
