On September 8, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain passed away at the age of 96. Her successor on Saturday was Prince Charles, who took the name Charles III.
Australian Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said in a statement that Charles III has been formally named the country’s sovereign.
Earlier, Charles III received the official status of the head of Canada, the corresponding proclamation was signed by the prime minister and the governor.
According to the British newspaper The Telegraph, Russian President Vladimir Putin was the first to congratulate the new King of Great Britain, Charles III. The monarch received a congratulatory telegram from Putin, in which the Russian leader wished him success and good health.
