Russian President Vladimir Putin has blamed the neo-Nazi regime for everything that happens in the Donbass, he stated this at a meeting with participants in the All-Russian Youth Ecological Forum “Ecosystem. Protected area.

“The tragedy that is now happening in the Donbass is the result of the activities of the nationalist, neo-Nazi regime, which in 2014 seized power by force and then launched hostilities in the Donbass. Twice he conducted major military operations using artillery, aviation, heavy equipment, and so on. And this is all happening so far,” Putin said.

He also added that Russia’s duty is to provide assistance to the residents of Donbass. According to him, all attempts to resolve the conflict peacefully failed because of the position of Kyiv.

Earlier, Putin called the situation in the Donbas the reason for the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. Its goal, according to the president, is to help the people who live there, Putin noted, as well as the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.

The beginning of the special operation was preceded by Russia’s recognition of the independence of the DPR and LPR proclaimed in the spring of 2014 on February 22 and their subsequent appeal to Russia for military assistance “on the basis of articles 3 and 4 of the treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the Russian Federation and the republics.”
