The Executive Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) did not make a decision today on the transition from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to the Asian Football Confederation. This is not the first time the issue has been postponed. This publication reports “Championship” with reference to a source familiar with the situation. According to the publication, a working group will be created to study the prospects for the transition to Asia.
December 27 RFU postponed transition issue, but promised to accept it by December 31, 2022. Prior to this, the decision to move to Asia postponed December 23rd.
On February 28, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA temporarily suspended Russian clubs and teams from international competitions against the backdrop of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. RFS explained their desire to move to the Asian Confederation by their desire to hold official matches.
