Central Bank: in the third quarter, fraudsters stole almost four billion rubles from Russians

Cyber scammers stole almost 4 billion rubles from clients of Russian banks in the third quarter of this year, informed Central bank on its website.
This is 24% more than was stolen in the same period of 2021.
The regulator in the III quarter initiated the blocking of 3932 illegal sites. For 9 months of this year – more than 10 thousand resources.
This is almost 68% more than a year earlier.
At the same time, as noted in the Central Bank, the share of the return of funds from the total amount of theft was only 3.4% (in monetary terms – 134.3 million rubles).
The Central Bank also initiated the blocking of more than 280 thousand telephone numbers used by fraudsters. This is 10 times higher than in 2021.
As Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank, said earlier, this year the record amount stolen by scammers from the victim in 1 phone call was 150 million rubles.
