Cave Russophobia: German authorities “squeezed” 200,000 euros from a patriotic Russian woman

Most often, the rights of Russian-speaking people are violated in the USA, Ukraine, the Baltic states and Finland

The degree of Russophobia in the West is rising, and there is no tendency to decrease it. This forecast was given by HRC member Alexander Brod. The leaders in violations of the rights of Russian citizens and compatriots in 2023 were Ukraine, the Baltic countries and Finland. The United States is also not lagging behind, and Great Britain has switched to “cave Russophobia” – they do not hesitate to attack Russians right on the streets, Brod said.

Human rights activists outlined the facts of infringement of the rights of Russians in NATO countries in the report. It is noted that in the past year, violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other norms of international law in relation to Russian-speaking people were recorded in the West.

– There were crimes against humanity, torture, inhumane treatment of prisoners of war (in Ukraine by the Ukrainian Armed Forces – “MK”), discrimination, violation of the right to housing, violation of freedom of movement, religion and speech, repression on political grounds, obstruction of the professional activities of journalists, persecution of the media, listed Alexander Brod.

All this is happening against the backdrop of a systemic crisis in human rights organizations, the HRC member emphasized.

The authors of the report claim that “many facts indicate a deliberate US policy aimed at capturing Russian citizens and depriving them of their freedom for far-fetched, unfounded reasons from the point of view of law.”

Human rights activists are also concerned about the practice of violating the economic and social rights of Russians in Western European countries, in particular in Germany. As the report states, Russian citizens who have residence permits in Germany are having their bank accounts closed. To illustrate the policy of the German authorities, human rights activists told the story of Olga Zh. (last name not indicated in the report), who more than ten years ago received a residence permit in Germany and purchased an apartment there on credit.

“Due to the negative attitude towards Russians in Western countries, Olga decided to return to Russia and sold her apartment. After signing the agreement, the money was transferred to Olga’s account.

The bank manager contacted Olga and asked her to bring the apartment purchase and sale agreement certified by a notary to find out the source of the money. Olga provided the contract. After this, the manager announced that Olga’s account would be partially blocked. She will be provided with 5,000 euros per month to cover her living expenses. All remaining funds, more than 200,000 euros, will be held by the bank,” the report says.

The authors of the report also draw attention to the practice of demolishing Russian and Soviet monuments in Ukraine. Human rights activists claim that Kyiv has compiled a list of ten objects to be demolished. Among them are monuments to Pushkin near the Kyiv Polytechnic University, in Kharkov, in Odessa, a monument to Suvorov in Izmail, a monument to Admiral Ushakov in Kherson and the memorial complex “Ukraine to the Liberators” in Uzhgorod..
