CAS registered RUSADA’s complaint against the decision in Valieva’s case

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered an appeal by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) against the decision of the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee (DAK) in the case of 16-year-old figure skater Kamila Valieva. There have also been complaints against the decision from the International Skating Union (ISA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). About it informed CAS press office.

According to the press release, RUSADA is demanding that Kamila Valieva be found guilty of an anti-doping rule violation. RUSADA also proposes to impose sanctions on Valiyeva, including a reprimand.

The ISU, in its appeal, requires Kamila Valieva to be disqualified for any period from December 25, 2021, as well as to cancel all the results of the figure skater for this period with the deprivation of all points, medals and prizes.

WADA wants to have all the results of Kamila Valieva canceled from December 25, 2021. They also insist on disqualifying Valieva for four years.

The case will be decided by three CAS judges. The press service of the court added that the appeals of RUSADA, ISA and WADA are planned to be combined into one.

In December 2021, WADA found traces of the banned trimetazidine in Kamila Valieva’s sample. The results of the examination were announced in February 2022 during the Beijing Olympics. Kamila Valieva said that the drug could have entered her body by accident. If she is found guilty, the Russian team will forfeit their Olympic gold for the team tournament at the Beijing Olympics.
