CAS overturned acquittals and disqualified bobsledder Selikhov and track and field athlete Ogarkov

The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) overturned the decisions of the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee (DAK) of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) against bobsledder Yuri Selikhov and athlete Denis Ogarkov. The CAS found them guilty of an anti-doping rule violation. This was reported TASS.
Yuri Selikhov was disqualified for three years – until June 30, 2025, Denis Ogarkov – for four – until July 5, 2026.
In April 2019, doping samples of Yuri Selikhov and Denis Ogarkov for 2013-2015 were taken out of Russia. Steroid metabolites were found in them. RUSADA insisted on their disqualification, however, in May 2021, the DAK acquitted the athletes and ruled that they could not be held responsible for doping entering their bodies. In response, RUSADA filed an appeal with CAS.
Yuri Selikhov, 37, last competed internationally in February 2018 at the Pyeongchang Olympics. His bob-two crew finished 25th overall. In 2007 he won the bobsleigh world championship.
Denis Ogarkov, 29, last competed in February 2022. Then he dropped out at the winter championship in Russia in the first qualifying round. In 2016-2018, Ogarkov won first place in the 100 meters at the Russian Summer Championships.
