The cardiologist explained that diving, especially at great depths, can lead to the formation of blood clots for many reasons, in particular, due to a number of changes aimed primarily at supporting brain function when diving at depth. According to him, the blood flow is redistributed in favor of vital organs, the level of hemoglobin and blood pressure rises, so diving is not recommended for acute or recent deep vein thrombosis.
In addition, as the expert noted, climbing mountains can cause thrombosis due to an increase in circulating blood cells and disruption of the blood coagulation system against the background of a decrease in the oxygen content in the body. In addition, Chichkov clarified that the heat in the summer, excessive drinking and long trips, when a person is in a sitting position for a long time, also increase the risk of blood clots.
