Russian Defense Ministry: space troops will be able to detect satellites faster by 2027
On Wednesday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu checked combat duty at a new facility of the outer space control system (CCP) of the Western Military District. The head of the defense department was informed that by 2027, the time for detecting spacecraft (SC) after launch or maneuvers will be reduced by four times.
“With an increase in the controlled area of near-Earth space, by 2027, the time for detecting spacecraft after launch or maneuver will be reduced by 4 times and determining the purpose of foreign spacecraft by 2 times,” said Alexander Golovko, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces.
In addition, the Commander of the Space Forces stressed that after the commissioning of the station, the number of accompanied small-sized spacecraft increased four times. According to Golovko, thanks to the station, the minimum size of an object that is taken for escort has decreased to 10 cm.
