Bust of Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin dismantled in Kyiv. This was reported in the Telegram channel “Decolonization. Ukraine”. A photon was published from which only a pedestal remained from the monument.
The bust was located in the courtyard of the Center for Technical Creativity and Career Guidance of School Youth in the Darnytsia District of the Ukrainian Capital. It was made of granite and installed in the late 1960s.
Gagarin himself was in Kyiv. He arrived on April 23, 1966. In memory of the visit on April 12, 1972, a memorial plaque was installed on the building of the Kievlyanka knitting factory.
In 2015, the fight against Soviet and Russian monuments in Ukraine began after the adoption of the law on “decommunization”.
