Businessman Traber forgives bodybuilder for hitting him on plane

Businessman Ilya Traber, who had a fight on board the plane with bodybuilder Anvar Niyazov, after which the latter ended up in jail, forgave the offender.

This was reported on Saturday by the RBC agency, citing the entrepreneur’s lawyer, Igor Sochiyants. He said that Niyazov’s mother turned to the businessman, and earlier Niyazov himself turned to the victim.

“But he is still a man of the old formation, correct, and he could not leave his mother’s appeal without his reaction,” the lawyer said about Traber.

According to him, the side of the victim took to the law enforcement agencies “a statement about the termination of the case in connection with reconciliation”, after which the case was dismissed, and Anvar Niyazov was released from the Kresty pre-trial detention center on Friday.

According to Fontanka, the incident between 72-year-old Traber and 35-year-old Niyazov occurred on November 24 on board a plane flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg.

In the Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg, where the decision was made to take Niyazov into custody, they said that he, having hand-to-hand combat skills, and “passenger T.”, were sitting in adjacent seats in the economy class cabin.

A verbal conflict began between them due to the fact that, according to Fontanka, Niyazov “collapsed too freely.” Traber told him: “Why are you falling apart like a monkey?” After which he received at least five blows “on the head, face and arm.” The court noted that his finger was broken after that.

Niyazov, who faced up to 5 years in prison under the article “intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm”, subsequently apologized to the victim.

As the agency notes, in 1993 Traber gained control over the oil depot in the port of St. Petersburg, becoming a co-owner of the St. Petersburg oil terminal. He also gained control over the seaport of St. Petersburg. As the Kommersant newspaper wrote in 1995, Traber was a monopoly in the antiques trade market in St. Petersburg. The businessman owned 4 salons, an auction room, an academic painting gallery, jewelry workshops and a restoration center.
