At the monument to the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko in the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg today, January 21, a spontaneous memorial was again formed, dismantled the night before. People brought flowers and left sheets with inscriptions in memory of those who died in the Dnieper on January 14. Earlier spontaneous memorials appeared in Moscow, Krasnodar and other cities.
The people’s memorial at the monument was formed on the evening of January 17. On the night of January 21, four women and two young men collected flowers and toys in garbage bags.

“It’s calm at the monument, there are no police, people stand for several minutes, communicate with each other, even if they don’t know each other,” a reader of the publication said.
On January 14, the RF Armed Forces carried out missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine, including the Dnieper. In the evening of the same day, it became known about the destruction of the entrance of a nine-story residential building in the Dnieper. After clearing the rubble, the regional authorities reported the death of 46 people (including six children) and 80 wounded.
