Bulgarian parliament approves arms supplies to Ukraine

The Bulgarian People’s Assembly (Parliament) approved the supply of weapons to Ukraine, Sofia Globe reports.
The profile committees of the parliament approved the proposal of the Democratic Bulgaria and GERB parties to provide Kyiv with weapons, ammunition and equipment. 175 deputies spoke in favor, 49 – against.
The corresponding bill was supported by the GERB-SDS alliance, which won the recent parliamentary elections, the coalition of ex-Prime Minister Kiril Petkov “Continue Changes” and “Democratic Bulgaria”. The Bulgarian Socialist Party for Bulgaria and Vozrozhdeniye opposed it.
The military aid package is planned to be prepared within 14 days. The authorities also intend to hold consultations with NATO on the purchase of equipment to replace the one sent to Kyiv.
