Brad Pitt, who plundered a French vineyard, was called a “capricious child”

Actor Brad Pitt has been accused of acting like a ‘whimsical kid’ who ‘plundered’ a French vineyard he and Angelina Jolie owned, according to lawyers in latest lawsuit, as the drama of the couple’s split continues to play out in the halls court.

According to the Daily Mail, Château Miraval is a vineyard in Provence, southern France, that Pitt bought with his then-wife Jolie for about $28 million in 2008. They became owners of the property, as well as her winery.

But now Brad Pitt has been accused of spending millions of dollars on vanity projects to build a recording studio and renovate a swimming pool, according to a lawsuit filed by Jolie’s former investment company Nouvel.

Angelina Jolie sold her stake in Nouvel in 2021 to a Russian oligarch, and lawyers said it worsened Pitt’s behavior at the winery.

According to the lawsuit seen by the Financial Times, Pitt behaved like a “whimsical child” and engaged in “blatant embezzlement.” Jolie’s lawyers have criticized the actor for impersonating a winemaker and claim he is “dealing with illusions, not mud and grapes.”

Nouvel, Jolie’s former company, said in a legal document that Pitt is “taking increasingly outrageous actions to maintain control” of the winery, and that he is allegedly “depriving [производителя розового вина] his assets.”

The rosé wine brand that Pitt and Jolie founded with the help of winemaker Marc Perrin has generated more than $16 million in profits in 2022, according to the FT.

Since the couple divorced in 2016, Pitt allegedly “devised a so far successful plan to seize de facto control of Chateau Miraval,” Nouvel’s lawyers said in a California court filing.

In the new filings, Jolie took aim at Pitt’s positioning himself as a winemaker, calling his affectation “ridiculous.”

“During the years he allegedly ‘built’ the business, he acted in and appeared in dozens of films, not to mention countless promotional appearances, trips around the world to movie premieres and attending Hollywood parties,” the document obtained by Page Six says. “While he no doubt visited the vineyards to admire the work of the French workers who actually made the business a success, Pitt is no vineyard grower.”

The fight between Pitt and Jolie over the winery is just the latest in their seemingly never-ending legal battles sparked by their acrimonious split in 2016.

The details were revealed in a Vanity Fair article last month after the couple’s former head of security, vintners, real estate brokers and others with knowledge of the couple’s stay in the south of France spoke out.

The article notes that in 2021, Jolie, 48, and Pitt, 59, appear to have reached an agreement whereby he will buy her half of the business.

The deal stalled when Pitt tried to insert a non-disclosure agreement that would have prevented the Maleficent star from going public about their infamous row in front of their children on a private jet in 2016, according to a Vanity Fair article.

The couple had “mutual and binding commitments” to the $160 million Chateau Miraval business and agreed not to sell it without each other’s permission. According to Vanity Fair, Jolie says “such an agreement never existed.”

According to the actor’s lawyers, Pitt discovered that his ex-wife “secretly” sold her 50 percent stake when it was announced in a 2021 press release that he had new business partners.

“For Jolie, the sale was a business deal to which she was fully entitled. “In an effort to preserve her own mental health and well-being, she looked for and found someone who, in her opinion, would be a good business partner for Pitt,” a source told Vanity fair.

Brad Pitt also regarded the sale as a “betrayal”.

Recall that Pitt and Jolie met in 2005 on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, playing a bored married couple who discover they are both assassins hired by rival agencies to kill each other.

They married at Château Miraval in 2014 and have six children – three biological and three adopted – who are now between 14 and 21 years old. A Vanity Fair article notes that the cracks in the marriage began to appear in 2015.

This tension reached a boiling point when the family returned to the US from Chateau Miraval in 2016.

“By September 14, 2016, tensions between and escalated for about a year. They tried to keep their arguments to themselves and made it a rule never to argue in front of children. Before the plane,” the Vanity Fair article says.

The couple’s head of security, Gary Bradbury, told the magazine that in his 15 years on the job, Pitt had never seen him drunk. On a flight day from Nice, France to Los Angeles, which included a refueling stop in Minnesota, Pitt “drank quite a lot.”

“Brad was drunk and the fight got out of control. He was absolutely wrong in the way he acted but immediately apologized and admitted he had crossed a line,” another source said.

“He will always regret this and immediately took steps to resolve the issue and try to make amends,” the source added. After this incident, Pitt sobered up.

Jolie filed for divorce shortly after the plane incident and a lengthy legal battle ensued, primarily over custody of their six children.
