Two-thirds of grain from Ukrainian ports is sent to countries “that need it.” This statement was made by the head of the EU foreign service, Josep Borrell.

“Two-thirds of the grain from Ukraine goes to those countries that need it the most, and not to Europeans,” Borrell emphasized (quote according to TASS).

The politician also noted that the European Union (EU) supports the implementation of the grain deal. According to him, the measures taken allowed “to soften the food crisis.” At the same time, Borrell specified that it was not possible to completely overcome it.

On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. However, the Russian authorities soon accused the West of non-compliance with the second part of the agreement, which concerns the memorandum between Russia and the UN.

Moreover, how declared Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SCO summit, the removal of restrictions under this deal affected mainly European countries. According to him, only 4.5% of agricultural products went to the poorest countries under the UN program, and 35% went to Europe.

Prior to this, during the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF) the situation with Ukrainian grain Putin named “brazen deceit”. According to the president, at that time, out of 2 million tons of food, only 60,000 tons reached the poorest countries. The EU took the rest of the products, Putin added.
