The European Commission (EC) will present the 12th package of sanctions against Russia on November 15. About it reported Head of the European Union’s foreign policy Josep Borrell.

“We are completing work on the 12th package of sanctions. “It will include an expansion of the blacklist, export restrictions, including on Russian diamonds, measures to tighten the oil price ceiling and measures against sanctions circumvention,” he said.

Earlier Borrell in an interview with The Financial Times (FT) reportedthat the European Union will present the 12th package of sanctions against Russia to the foreign ministers on November 13. According to Borrell, the EU received support on this issue following the meeting of G7 foreign ministers in Japan.

At the end of October, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, following the EU summit in Brussels, announced the preparation of a package of sanctions against Russia, which may also include restrictions on the export of diamonds. These sanctions, she clarified, are being prepared in cooperation with the G7 countries. In early November, von der Leyen added that in addition to new import and export bans, the package would include measures to tighten oil prices.

The Kremlin noted that sanctions pressure on Russia will continue along with attempts to strengthen it, but the country’s economy is ready for this. Commenting on the EU’s plans to limit trade in Russian diamonds, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that this would lead to the formation of gaps, since the world market is rich in alternatives.
