The United States purchased 60 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns (ZSU) from Jordan in order to subsequently transfer them from Ukraine. The publication reports this De Telegraaf, citing sources. It is noted that these funds were sold to Amman by the Netherlands in 2016.
According to preliminary information, Washington paid 110 million euros for the purchase of the Gepard self-propelled gun.
These air defense installations can shoot down planes and helicopters, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces plan to use them to attempt to shoot down Russian drones.
The material notes that the delivery of Gepard will allow the Ukrainian army to save ammunition for more expensive anti-aircraft air defense systems such as Patriot and IRIS-T.
