Borisov: Putin approved all the proposals of Roskosmos to create an orbital station

Russian President Vladimir Putin approved all the proposals of Roskosmos on the creation of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS), said Yury Borisov, Director General of the state corporation.

“Today, at a meeting with the President, in addition to the fact that he approved all our proposals for the creation of the Russian Orbital Station and readiness for the transition to mass production of satellites, Vladimir Vladimirovich approved our proposal to establish the Order named after Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin,” – leads his words TASS.

Earlier today, Borisov at a meeting with Putin told on the decision of the government to extend the operation of the Russian segment of the ISS until 2028. According to him, the financial situation of the industry is stable, and the state corporation “understands where to go.” He noted that “time is running fast” and Russia “shouldn’t have breaks in manned cosmonautics.” According to Borisov, the sketch of the project of the orbital station will be ready in the summer of 2023.

Putin, in response, recalled that one of the goals of the station is to prepare “for the implementation of our plans for the Moon.” Borisov said that the project will allow Russian specialists to master the technologies needed, among other things, for the lunar program. According to him, this is one of the advantages of the new orbit and the Russian orbital station.

Today Putin also spoke at a solemn event in the Kremlin dedicated to Cosmonautics Day. During his speech, the head of state said that “the industry is getting on its feet with confidence”, which is confirmed by one hundred accident-free space launches in a row. Putin added that the domestic rocket and space industry is “consistently increasing its potential.” He also instructed to increase the production of satellites for various purposes, noting that efforts should be focused on “using near-Earth space.”
