Since 2011, 11 electric depots have been reconstructed and built to serve the rolling stock of the Moscow Metro. According to Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Urban Planning Policy and Construction, only one enterprise provides jobs for almost a thousand employees.
“For 11 years, six depots have been built in Moscow: Mitino, Brateevo, Likhobory, Solntsevo, Rudnevo and the first stage of the Nizhegorodskoye depot. Also, five electric depots were reconstructed: Pechatniki, Planernoye, Sokol and the first stages of the Vladykino and Vykhino depots, he listed.
Bochkarev noted that about eight thousand people received jobs, and this is very important for supporting the economy of the capital. Electric depots are quite large enterprises that provide employment for qualified specialists.
They carry out repairs, maintenance and night lay-up of electric trains. The greater the number of lines and their length, the more the city needs enterprises of this kind.
On the eve of the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, while inspecting the construction of the start-up complex of the Nizhegorodskoye electric depot, said that in a few months the construction of the Big Circle Metro Line would be completed. For its efficient operation, the Aminevskoye and Nizhegorodskoye electric depots will be built. Up to 30 trains will enter the latter. The first tests will begin in December.
