BMG will refuse cooperation with Pink Floyd leader Waters because of Ukraine
How reports Variety, citing informed sources, the German media company BMG, one of the “Big Four” owners of the rights to own and distribute record labels, intends to end cooperation with Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters.
This decision was made by the company’s management in connection with the musician’s statements about Israel, Ukraine and the United States.
Let us remind you that the German company signed a publishing agreement with the musician in 2016. BMG planned to release a new version of Pink Floyd’s 1973 album “Dark Side of the Moon” in 2023. However, new CEO Thomas Kosfeld canceled the deal after Waters’ high-profile statements. The album was released on the British label Cooking Vinyl.
Now sources have told Variety that BMG is preparing to end its partnership with the Pink Floyd leader entirely.
