Bloomberg: Apple will switch iPhone to USB Type-C in 2023

In 2023, Apple will release the iPhone smartphone, a line of headphones and computer accessories with a USB Type-C connector. This is reported Bloomberg in the Power On mailing list.
According to Mark Gurman, editor of the publication, the American company will have to update its products in order to comply with the law adopted by the European Parliament. The new document requires all mobile devices, tablets and cameras sold in the EU to have USB Type-C chargers by the end of 2024.
As Mr. Gurman notes, at the end of 2023, the iPhone 15 will be presented, which will be the first among Apple smartphones to receive USB Type-C instead of the proprietary Lightning connector. Next, new generations of AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max wireless earbuds will be introduced, which will also migrate to USB Type-C, and then computer accessories Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad will be transferred to the same standard.
Currently, the USB Type-C port is already used by all iPad tablets, except for the basic version, but it will also abandon the Lightning standard. It is expected that this will happen before the end of 2022 with the premiere of a new generation of the device.
Recall that the law on the transfer of all electronics sold in the European Union to a single standard of USB Type-C chargers was accepted at the beginning of October 2022.
