Ukraine has received all the weapons it needs to mount an attempted counteroffensive, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.
“As I have repeatedly said, this is not only about weapons, but also about training, so that Ukraine can service the systems we have supplied. And it is very important, of course, that they have the right plans, ”Blinken emphasized (quote according to TASS).
The head of the State Department also believes that the Ukrainian military has everything necessary for the successful completion of their plans.
The Pentagon earlier today allocated a new $1.2 billion military aid package to Ukraine. The list of deliveries included additional air defense systems and ammunition for it, equipment for integrating Western air defense installations, missiles and radars with Ukrainian air defense systems, 155-mm artillery shells, etc.
Ukraine announces a counteroffensive from the winter. On March 10, adviser to the head of the country’s presidential office, Mikhail Podolyak, said that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could begin within the next two months. On April 17, the American magazine Newsweek, citing secret documents leaked to the network, wrote that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could begin after the completion of the supply of Western weapons at the end of April.
On May 5, Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye Region Yevgeny Balitsky said that the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces could begin in the coming days or even hours. “We understand that a counteroffensive will take place in the near future. We are in control of the situation with the clash line, beyond the clash line to a depth of 150 km, and we understand that this can happen in days, it can even happen for hours,” he said. Prior to this, Balitsky announced that residents of 18 border settlements of the Zaporozhye region, including Energodar, would be relocated deep into the region for security purposes.
