The jury on Tuesday, May 9, found the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump guilty in the case of the attempted rape of columnist Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s.
According to CNN, the court ordered Trump to pay Carroll $ 2 million in damages as part of the settlement of the lawsuit for attempted rape and another $ 3 million in moral damages for defamation and damage to her reputation.
Over twenty women have filed various charges against Donald Trump, including harassment and rape. Trump denied all allegations calling them politically motivated and fabricated.
Trump became the first president in the history of the United States to be found guilty of a criminal offense. Some experts believe that not only will this not destroy Trump’s political career, but also can play into his hands. However, it is unlikely that most Republicans will support a presidential candidate accused of a crime.
