Blagoveshchensk and Vladivostok canceled holiday fireworks in support of Belgorod

The authorities of Blagoveshchensk and Vladivostok canceled New Year’s fireworks due to the Ukrainian strike on Belgorod. Magadan earlier canceled holiday events. Due to the attack, more than 20 people died110 were injured.
Mayor of Vladivostok Konstantin Shestakov in Telegram expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims. “Happy memory to the dead, speedy recovery to the wounded. In Vladivostok, fireworks displays have been canceled in the evening. We mourn together with the whole country,” he wrote.
The mayor of Blagoveshchensk Oleg Imameev also announced the decision to cancel the fireworks display in Telegram. He urged residents to celebrate the New Year with family and friends and take a walk along the streets of the city. “And there will definitely still be fireworks in Blagoveshchensk. Including a victory salute in honor of our victory in this battle for Russia. I am sure that you will support me,” wrote Mr. Imameev.
Magadan Mayor Yuri Grishan previously announced the cancellation of New Year’s events on Teatralnaya Square. He called on city residents not to set off fireworks.
Belgorod came under fire from Ukraine on December 30. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the strike was carried out by two Vilkha missiles in cluster ammunition, as well as Czech-made Vampire MLRS rockets. The central office of the Investigative Committee opened a case.
