There is currently no possibility of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as part of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This statement was made on Thursday, November 9, by US President Joe Biden.
In response to a request from journalists to comment on the prospects for stopping hostilities in the region, the American leader said that he did not see any possibilities for this.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of strategic communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, said that Israel intends to open a second humanitarian corridor in the Gaza Strip for civilians to leave the combat area. The first such corridor has been operating for several days, the official noted.
Earlier, Biden approached Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a proposal pause Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) combat operations in the Gaza Strip for three days. The US President called on the parties to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to focus on progress on the issue of releasing prisoners during this time.
Biden assured Netanyahu of Washington’s intention to continue to provide Tel Aviv with the resources needed to fight the Palestinian Hamas movement. However, the White House assured that the United States will continue to persuade Israel agree to a humanitarian pause in Gaza.
