US President Joe Biden commented on official statistics on hate crimes. He emphasized that this phenomenon has not disappeared anywhere, remaining a “stain on the soul” of the United States.
Biden expressed concern about the statistics, saying they serve as a reminder that hate remains a problem that must be addressed. His official statement said: “The data reminds us that hate is not gone, but only hidden. And hate crimes are a stain on the soul of America.”
Anti-Semitic crimes are up 25% from 2021 to 2022, according to the FBI. The President emphasized that more than half of all religious crimes related to hatred are associated with anti-Semitism. He also noted a 16% increase in crimes against LGBT people, as well as high rates of criminal attacks against African Americans and Muslim Americans.
