US President Joe Biden, in connection with the massive Russian attack, called on Congress to allocate funds to Ukraine, CNN reports.
Earlier, Assistant Secretary General of the Organization for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Khaled Hiari, said that the massive attack of the Russian Aerospace Forces on Friday, December 29, was one of the largest since February 2022.
According to Biden, the strike serves as a “reminder of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intentions.”
“This is a stark reminder to the world that after nearly two years of this devastating war, Putin’s goal remains unchanged… He must be stopped,” Biden said.
He said that US-provided defense systems intercepted some Russian drones and missiles.
“Unless Congress takes urgent action in the new year, we will not be able to continue sending the weapons and air defense systems Ukraine needs. The stakes of this struggle go far beyond the borders of Ukraine. They affect all of NATO, the security of Europe and the future of the transatlantic relationship,” Biden said.

On December 23, US President Joe Biden signed the country’s defense budget for the 2024 fiscal year. Overall, American defense spending for the 2024 fiscal year is estimated at over $880 billion, which includes spending on programs of the Pentagon, State Department, intelligence and other departments. At the same time, only $800 million is provided for Ukraine.
