Biden administration wants congressional support for long-term aid to Ukraine

The administration of US President Joe Biden intends to enlist the support of Congress in order to ensure the provision of assistance to Ukraine for years to come, US Presidential Assistant for National Security Jake Sullivan said in an interview with the American publication The Atlantic. TASS reports this.
At the same time, Sullivan noted that the American administration “has procedural difficulties in approving funds for Ukraine.”
Earlier it was reported that the US Congress has one day left to agree on at least a temporary budget to avoid a government shutdown.
The House of Representatives, where the Republicans have a majority, has previously agreed on a project that fundamentally does not suit the Democrats and the White House. At the same time, the project being discussed in the Senate, where the Democrats have a majority, contains $6.2 billion for Ukraine, but does not involve the allocation of funds to solve problems on the border with Mexico, which fundamentally does not suit the Republicans.
Earlier, Shalanda Young, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, said that the United States would have funds to send aid to Ukraine in the event of a possible shutdown of the federal government. However, she added, Washington is also concerned about its own reserves, as well as the combat readiness of its forces.
