The wife of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Elena Zelenskaya, admitted that her husband may not go to the polls for a second term if they are held in 2024.
“It will depend on whether our society needs him as president,” Business Insider quotes the first lady of Ukraine as saying.
Elena Zelenskaya added that if her husband feels that Ukrainian society no longer wants to see him as the leader of the country, he will not run for office.
She also admitted that when Vladimir Zelensky first decided to go to the polls, she did not fully support his desire.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky explained that holding elections during martial law is prohibited. But if the Verkhovna Rada supports the relevant legislative changes, the West allocates money to organize the election process, and observers will also be “in the trenches,” then elections can be held.
