Former Minister of Economics and Honorary Research Director of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Evgeniy Yasin died at the age of 90. Publicist Alexander Arkhangelsky, who worked with a professor at the university, reported this on his Facebook (owned by Meta, banned and recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation). His death was also reported by ex-Minister of Finance Alexey Kudrin, journalist Alexey Venediktov (recognized as a foreign agent) and political scientist Alexander Kynev. At the end of August, Yevgeny Yasin was hospitalized with cerebral edema and heart problems.
“They wrote that Evgeniy Grigorievich Yasin died this morning. May his memory be blessed. And thank fate for meeting me,” wrote Mr. Arkhangelsky.
“He was one of the pillars of the transition of the Soviet economy to the market, the creator of the Higher School of Economics. For many he was a teacher and friend. Bright memory”,- wrote Mr. Kudrin in his Telegram channel.
Mr. Venediktov said that farewell to Evgeny Yesin will take place on September 28 at 13:00 Moscow time in the building of the Higher School of Economics on Pokrovsky Boulevard.
Evgeny Yasin was born in 1934. In 1963 he graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov. Since 1989, he worked as head of the department of the State Commission for Economic Reform under the Council of Ministers of the USSR. He served as Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation from 1994 to 1997. President Vladimir Putin awarded Yevgeny Yasin with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, III and IV degrees. Since 2018, Yevgeny Yasin has been a member of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.
