Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s sympathy for the Jews. Bennett noted that Putin had Jewish neighbors as a child.
The ex-prime minister shared his impressions of the meeting with Putin in Sochi in 2021. Their conversation lasted about five hours, they touched on many topics.
“He let me know that he is very pro-Semitic, that he loves the Jews. He was actually raised by Jewish neighbors,” Bennett told journalist Hanoch Daum.
He added that Putin’s school teacher was Jewish.
Putin’s teacher Mina Moiseevna Yuditskaya immigrated to Israel in 1973. In 2005, during a visit to Israel, Putin met with her and then sent her gifts. She died in 2017.
